EVENT DESCRIPTION
CARNIVAL STUDIO THEATER

Henry Box Brown is an explosive hip hop musical, telling the story of Henry Box Brown, an enslaved African American, during one of America’s darkest periods in history. Henry, played by 5-time Grammy nominated songwriter/producer Karl “Dice Raw” Jenkins of the legendary Roots crew, takes destiny in his own hands and mails himself from Virginia to Philadelphia in a wooden box in an effort to escape bondage and reunite with his family.

Presented with the support of the Miami Diaspora Fund, made possible in part by a grant from the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation, and members of the Miami Diaspora Fund Giving Circle.
