Peebles Atlantic Development Corporation selected as "Company of the Year" by Black Enterprise

South Florida businessman R. Donahue Peebles and his company, Peebles Atlantic Devlopment Corp., are featured in the June edition of Black Enterprise magazine. Peebles Atlantic Development Corp., with a portfolio of $500 million, had 2003 sales of $82 million. Peebles owns the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza South Beach, the only African-American owned hotel on South Beach.

Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed Chosen as B-CC's Next President

The new president of Bethune-Cookman College, the fifth in the school’s 100-year history, will be Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed, the sitting president and CEO of Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is expected to begin her new duties July 1, according to Dr. J. Stanley Marshall, chairman of the B-CC Board of Trustees.

Croom accepts MSU head coaching job

Sylvester Croom, assistant head coach with the Green Bay Packers, has accepted the head football coaching job for the Mississippi State University Bulldogs. Croom becomes the first and only black coach in the SEC, and joins only a handful of black coaches within the Division I-A coaching ranks.
